Layers to Remember | These works are a visual representation of memory. The overload of information in today’s society, from magazines, books, social media, and advertising, changes how we process and recollect the world around us.

Memory is always layered, with long-term and short-term memories interacting and lingering. In these works, each sheet of wallpaper is representative of a new layer of memory, along with the information decay that takes place from the passage of time. I created these pieces in my own interpretation of what’s going on in the world around me, whether that be politics, sex, war, religion, or substance abuse. Fragments of images and collages of words identify the mood, but a single word can be a trigger to specificity. These montages show the intense events rising to the surface, through layers of memory to be pinned in the conscious where it can be analyzed.
