Crimea (2015) | The Southern Coast as a vacation and recreation destination already has been established in the 19th century, during Soviet times even 10 million chose the area for their holidays. Since the beginning of Crimean Crises in 2014, though solely Russian tourists would visit the resorts, at which I mainly photographed at night. For me, this series is a personal journey – i have been in Crimea three times: when Crimea was in Soviet Union, when it was Ukraine and now. The combination of political propaganda and empty streets, shops and restaurants evoke an ambivalent and spooky atmosphere. www.sofiatatarinova.ru
