Viktorsha Uliyanova
Lenin’s Mirage | Viktorsha Uliyanova is a Russian writer and photographer predominantly focusing on portraiture and documentary. For her series “Lenin’s Mirage“ Uliyanova revisits her hometown, Moscow, Russia where she examines remnants of the Soviet era.
From brutalist landscape of smokestacks, abandoned communist dwellings, to uniformed guards patroling the mausoleum holding Vladimir Lenin’s 93 year incubated corpse, the images draw upon the binding link between Russia’s brutalist architecture to the country’s complex yet war-torn and turbulent past.
