3 minutes from the northern boarder of New Mexico, lies the railroad town of Antonito, Colorado. Antonito has an area of 0.4 sq miles and an estimated population of 775 people as of 2015. Due to a poor economy, many vacant buildings define the town, including a historic Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad depot. Nowadays, the town is mostly defined by its last-stop location for legal recreational marijuana, many a New Mexicans travel north across the border to pick up their monthly supply. Antonito has 1 high school, 1 grocery store, 1 bank, 2 liquor stores, 2 dispensaries, and 2 hotels. One of which is, "smoker friendly". There is an emptiness and eeriness that could only be captured here in the dead of winter, February 2016. www.joshuapalmeri.com
